25-0331-roland-nienhueser

Roland “Jonah” Edward Nienhueser, 87, of Alma, MO, went to his heavenly home to be with Jesus on Friday, March 28, 2025. He was born August 5, 1937, on the family farm in Corder, MO. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith on August 22, 1937, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma, MO by pastor Griesse. He was confirmed on April 6, 1952, by Pastor Pfotenhouer.

He married Bonnie Jo Crockett on August 22, 1959, at the Federated Church in Alma, MO. He lived his entire life in Alma and in 1965 he had his own home built and he spent many hours finishing the interior where his family still lives today.

Roland dedicated his life to supporting his family as a self-employed businessman working with families to update their homes as an interior contractor and doing finishing work in new houses. He refinished many pieces of furniture for members of the community. His faith in his Lord Jesus Christ was an instrumental part of who Roland was and he shared his faith daily with his family and those he met.

Roland enjoyed time with his family and loved his time fishing and being on the water. He enjoyed sharing his love of fishing with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He could be found outdoors working in his garden, mushroom hunting, picking berries of all kinds and cutting wood for the fireplace. He enjoyed hunting quail and dove with his son and taking his family on camping trips for vacation. A favorite time for Roland and everyone was making and eating homemade ice cream, raspberry his favorite. Roland loved working with wood and creating special pieces for family members. Some of our fondest memories are of him in his workshop at his table sanding, sawing and piecing together wood to create something special.

After he retired, he enjoyed his time sitting on a bucket under the pecan trees picking up pecans. Later you could find him sitting in his chair enjoying the fireplace and shelling the pecans to give to others or watching the birds eating at the feeders.

He was a member of Lions Club and could be seen flipping hamburgers at the concession stand during summer baseball games. He was a faithful member at Trinity Lutheran Church and School and served his church in different capacities.

Roland is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his four children: Kris Elmshaeuser (Karl) of Waverly, NE, Keven Wrege (Tom) of Georgetown, TX, Dwayne Nienhueser (Roberta) of Waverly, MO, Jamie Johanson (Dale) of Norfolk, NE; 13 grandchildren: Zachary Elmshaeuser, Joshua Elmshaeuser (Angela), Noah Elmshaeuser (Jessica), Caleb Wrege (Sarah Lane), Coleson Wrege (Tatiana), Ben Nienhueser, Seth Johanson (Tiffany), Tim Nienhueser, Elijah Elmshaeuser (Janie Lyerly), Sadie Josko (Nick), Kate Utecht (Amos), Annika Johanson (Joe Buckley), Aaron Johanson (Hannah Taylor); nine great-grandchildren: Oliver, Henry, James, Arthur, Charlotte, Lucy, Liam, Adaline and baby Utecht.
