The Slater City Council reviewed two quotes for sewer lining and ditch work during its meeting on Tuesday, April 1.

The city has a little less than 3,000 feet of lining work to do, as well as some ditch lines that run parallel with the sewer. The council received a $128,905 quote from Visu-Sewer, and a $130,868 quote from Insituform for the work. After some discussion, the council ultimately decided to move forward with Insituform because the city has worked with them for the past six years.

In other news, the council approved a picnic and liquor license for a Wine Walk event at the city’s park on May 17.

The council also wanted to remind city residents to only place yard debris in the city compost area. City officials recently found construction equipment in the brush pile near the lake. Mayor Terry Jordan and City Administrator Gene Griffith stress this area is only for yard debris like loose leaves (not bagged), tree limbs, and other brush.
