
Residents near Pilot Grove are in cleanup mode as a result of tornadic activity reported Wednesday, April 2, 2025 in Cooper County.
Route 135 from Interstate 70 south to Pilot Grove is closed to allow emergency crews to operate in the area. The Cooper County Emergency Management Office is advising the public to avoid the area if they do not live there. As of 11 a.m. Wednesday, Co-Mo Electric Cooperative is reporting 176 members without power.
Pilot Grove C-Four schools are still in session, after students spent part of the morning taking shelter. In a statement on the district’s website, Supt. Ashley Groepper says the plan is to remain in school for the rest of the day but will continue to monitor any changes in the weather.
Two roadways in Pettis County are closed because of high water. The Pettis County Sheriff’s Department says that drivers need to avoid Route J at Longwood Road, and Route BB a half-mile mile East of Greer Road.
Elsewhere, Saline County Emergency Management Director Tony Day tells KMMO News that the county’s monthly storm siren test remains scheduled for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., so long as conditions in the county remain calm. The agency’s monthly test is scheduled for all areas of the county outside Marshall.
