Several lettered routes across Northern Missouri are set to receive new surfaces this year, starting with a Chariton County roadway next week.

Crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation and contractors Capital Paving will kick off construction season April 10 with a project to repave Route W through Chariton County, including through Prairie Hill and into Randolph County. The roadway will be narrowed to one lane, with flag crews directing motorists through the work zone.

A total of eleven routes in three area counties are covered by this project and are part of a statewide Rural Roads Program where nearly 2000 of low-volume roads will receive improvements. Over the next six months, crews will also repave Routes E, EE, T, UU, and NN in Carroll County, Routes EE and W in Linn County, Route C in Chariton County, and Routes TT and ZZ between Linn and Chariton counties.

All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
