Melvin Ray Gerlt, 90, of Marshall, MO passed Sunday April, 6, 2025 at his home. Born March 19, 1935 in Stover, MO to the late Charlie Gerlt and Sadie (Simmons) Gerlt. Melvin was an avid fisherman and spent many years on Truman Lake. Melvin enjoyed hunting in Colorado with close friends. Melvin was a mechanic by trade.

In 1956, Melvin was united in marriage to Phyllis Dunsmore who preceded him in death in November 1983. Two children were born to this union, Mike Gerlt and Diane Morris (Dale).

In 1984, Melvin married Shirley Jamison who survives of the home. Together Melvin and Shirley enjoyed traveling, gardening, and sitting under a shade tree.

In addition to his daughter Diane, he is survived by five step children, Mark Jamison (Kathy), Denise Killman (Gene), Gary Jamison, Rhonda Alspaw, and Kristin Villatoro Reyes (Jose); two sisters: Virginia Phew and Glendola Sixtax, as well as several grandchildren and great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his late wife Phyllis, Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Charlie, his son Mike, one granddaughter Nichole, and one step granddaughter Jodie.

Funeral service will be Saturday April 12, 2025 at the Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home, Marshall, MO at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery, Marshall, MO.
