The longest winning streak in St Louis Blues history didn’t make it across the border, as the league-leading Winnipeg Jets defeated the Blues 3-1 on Monday, April 7 at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg.

Pavel Buchnevich had the Blues’ only goal, tying the game seven minutes into the second period with a wrist shot. Robert Thomas recorded his 55th assist of the season, extending his latest points streak to nine games. The Jets took the lead seven minutes into the final frame with Alex Iafallo’s 14th goal of the season. Adam Lowry’s empty-netter sealed up a franchise record 53rd win for the Jets, who now lead Washington in the race for the Presidents’ Trophy by three points.

Meanwhile, the Blues maintain a two-point lead over Minnesota for the first wild card spot. Calgary defeated San Jose last night to close the gap to six points, with two games in hand. The Canucks still have life, also with two games in hand and ten points behind Saint Louis. The Canucks visit Dallas on Tuesday, while Minnesota host San Jose and the Flames visit Anaheim on Wednesday night.

The Blues continue their final road trip of the regular season when they visit Edmonton on Wednesday night. Puck drop is at 9 p.m.
