The Kansas City Royals continued their homestand with a 4-2 win over the Minnesota Twins on Monday, April 7, returning to .500 on the young season.

The Royals scored in the first with a Vinnie Pasquantino double that scored Jonathan India. The Twins evened the score in the second with a double from Willi Castro. The hosts would then take the lead for good, as a leadoff double from MJ Melendez, followed by Maikel Garcia’s single, led to Kyle Isbel’s RBI single. Isbel would be forced out at second on Bobby Witt Jr’s grounder that scored Garcia, but he would make a full lap around the base path after hitting his first home run of the season during the sixth inning. The Twins claimed a run with two outs in the ninth when Harrison Bader singled in a run.

Michael Lorenzen picked up his first win of the year, going six innings with one run and five hits along with three punchouts. Carlos Estévez claimed his third save of the season.

Game two of the four-game series against the Twins is Tuesday at 6:40 p.m., with Cole Ragans getting the start for the Royals. Pregame coverage on KMMO AM 1300 begins at 6 p.m.
