
The Pettis County Sheriff’s Department arrested two Camdenton residents following a traffic stop on Sunday, April 6.
According to Pettis County Sheriff Brad Anders, a traffic stop was initiated on a GMC Yukon in the area of U.S. Highway 65 and Honda Road at 9:44 p.m. A narcotic detecting K9 was deployed during the stop and showed a positive alert for the presence of narcotics within the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle ensued, resulting in the seizure of just over 3 ounces of methamphetamine and fentanyl. The driver, 44-year-old Curtis Payne, and passenger, 64-year-old Kimberly Steyer, were arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail.
Both Payne and Steyer have been charged with felonies for trafficking drugs in the second degree. Bond has been set at $125,000 cash or surety.
Both subjects were arraigned Tuesday, April 8. Counsel status hearings for each subject are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
