Moberly voters showed their support for the city’s Transportation Trust Sales tax during the April Municipal Election, renewing it for a 15 year period.
The tax of one half of one percent was first passed in 1986 and is used for street and sidewalk maintenance. Community Relations Manager Scott McGarvey says the city is thankful for the support from voters.
The Moberly City Council’s two incumbent members on the ballot also won re-election. McGarvey highlights the importance elections like this one have on the city, and the responsibility residents have to make their voices heard at the ballot box.
Randolph County recorded a total of 1,114 ballots cast in the April Municipal Election, representing 7.23 percent voter turnout.
