A state office holder will pay a visit to the Saline County Courthouse next week.

State Treasurer Vivek Malek will stop in Marshall on Wednesday, April 16 to promote MO ABLE, a state-sponsored savings account to cover expenses for persons with disabilities. Program Coordinator Yvonne Rydman will also speak. The treasurer’s office is promoting the MO ABLE program and its benefits during the month of April. The visit will take place at noon in the Saline County Commission chambers on the first floor of the Saline County Courthouse.

Malek’s visit was announced during the commission session April 9. Commissioners approved the hire of Harley Dohrman for the jail division of the Sheriff’s Department, and approved a $5000 top off of the county’s metered postage. Also during the session, commissioners announced that $56,362.05 have been spent thus fall on equipment and setup needed to process and retain data for the senior tax credit. Collector Cindi Sims reported that county offices have processed 965 applications in the first month that eligible Saline County residents could apply for the tax credit.
