The Fayette Falcons scholar bowl team completed a perfect run through their conference, winning the inaugural Central State 8 conference title.

Fayette went 6-0 in their after-school duals during the winter, then went 6-0 at the conference tournament March 10 at Eugene, to secure the championship. Junior Ella Doolin is the team’s captain and says the team has grown to support each other and their strengths.

Doolin appeared in all 12 conference contests and was one of three Falcons who made the all-conference team, joining fellow juniors Skyler Jones and Archer Dudenhoeffer. Also on the roster are Christopher Flatpohler, Erin McSwain, Cody Race, and Kylie Wells  Andy Bentley is the team’s coach.

With the conference title in hand, Fayette now prepare for the MSHSAA Class Three, District Five tournament this Saturday at Columbia Independent. Doolin says the competition will be tough.

The first of three preliminary matches begin Saturday at 9 a.m. In addition to four of their conference foes, Fayette’s district also includes last year’s state runners-up, Hermann.
