The Kansas City Royals suffered their second shut out this season, falling to the Minnesota Twins 4-0 on Wednesday, April 9 at Kauffman Stadium.

The Royals were limited to three hits, including a Bobby Witt Jr double in the fourth. Twins starter Joe Ryan gave up two of those hits while striking out four across seven innings to get his first win of the season. Seth Lugo took the loss after allowing a run in each the fourth and sixth, giving up five hits and three walks while striking out six across 5.2 innings. The bullpen allowed home runs to Matt Wallner in the eighth and Ty France in the ninth.

The Royals now sit at 6-6, a game behind Detroit for the AL Central lead. The Royals have another chance to claim a series win when they wrap up the four-game series against the Twins on Thursday afternoon. Michael Wacha gets the start for KC.
