The St. Louis Cardinals got seven strong innings from Andre Pallante and gave him just enough run support to come away with a 2-0 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday, April 11.

Pallante earned his second win of the season, scattering two hits and two walks in his seven innings of work. He out-dueled Aaron Nola, who gave up two runs in five innings.

The Cardinals finally got to Nola in the fifth, when Yohel Pozo drilled an RBI double, scoring Thomas Saggese. St. Louis added one more when Alec Burleson drew a bases loaded walk.

Ryan Helsley shut down the Phillies in the ninth for his second save of the year.

The Cardinals improve to 6-7 on the season. Their series against Philadelphia continues Saturday, April 12. First pitch from Busch Stadium is at 1:15 p.m.
