Matthew Liberatore allowed just three hits and one walk, while striking out seven, as the St Louis Cardinals claimed a series win with a 7-0 shut out of the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, April 13 at Busch Stadium.

Liberatore went six innings to claim his first win of the season, while the bullpen combined to retire all nine batters they faced. Meanwhile, the Cardinals belted two home runs on the afternoon, with Willson Contreras getting the Cardinals on the board in the fourth with a two-run blast, and Jordan Walker tagging the Phillies bullpen with a two-run shot of his own in the eighth. Nolan Arenado and Nolan Gorman collected RBIs in the sixth, while Yohel Pozo came home on a wild pitch in the seventh. Zack Wheeler took the loss for the Phillies, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out three.

The Cardinals are now 7-8 on the season and await the Houston Astros for the start of a three-game series. Sonny Gray gets the start for St Louis, with first pitch from Busch Stadium set for 7:15 p.m.
