Jeremy Gibson and Harold Simmons have taken their seats on the Marshall City Council following their election last Tuesday.
The two were sworn in during the council meeting April 15, which saw Gibson succeed Charles Guthrey in the Third Ward and Harold Simmons return to the Fourth Ward seat that Steve Cook had occupied the last three years. Cook says he enjoyed the opportunity to visit with many of his fellow residents and work with the council.
Cook identifies the decision to outsource sanitation services to RTS as a major accomplishment during his three years of service.
Cook and Guthrey received service award plaques prior to the previous council adjourning sine die. During the first half of the meeting, the council approved both readings of an ordinance re-platting the site of the new gas turbine plant. After the new council took their seats, first ward councilman John Allen Jr and second ward councilman Nathan Swisher accepted reappointment to the city’s Grievance Board. Craig Thompson was re-elected as the mayor pro tem.
