A Marshall woman is facing new charges stemming from a compliance check by Marshall Police.

The department says the arrest occurred April 3, 2025 as they conducted checks of area stores to ensure that they were not selling alcohol to underage minors, ahead of prom and high school graduation. According to police, an 18-year-old entered a retail store on the 1600 block of South Odell and sought to purchase a pack of hard seltzer drinks. Officers accuse Kourtney Brockman of selling the product to the underage customer, who was participating in the check with an officer nearby.

The department’s probable cause statement goes on to note that an officer entered the store to place Brockman under arrest, then asked her to empty her pockets. According to the statement, one of the objects from her pockets tested positive for cocaine. Officers then determined that Brockman also had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear for a hearing last month on drug possession charges.

Brockman now faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, supplying liquor to a minor, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken to the Saline County Justice Facility, with bond set at $5000. Her initial court appearance on the new charges is Thursday, April 17.

The Marshall Police Department reminds the public that underage drinking is a serious public health problem in the U.S. They warn that consumption of alcohol by minors is not only illegal, but can also cause enormous health and safety risks.
