Students at Glasgow High School are one of the winners of this year’s “NO MOre TRASH” contest, celebrating student creativity in encouraging their peers and community to not litter.
Glasgow’s winning entry in the high school division is titled “River Recycle”. Students decorated their trash can by painting Glasgow’s skyline from the Missouri River, and topped the can with a sculpture of a fish jumping out of the river. In the school’s application, principal Rex Beltz said the school’s campaign of the same name, “will encourage residents, visitors, and tourists to dispose of their waste responsible, ensuring that the river remains free from harmful trash and debris.”
Glasgow High School will receive $200 from contest sponsors, the Missouri Department of Transportation. 24 total entries were submitted to this year’s contest, with an entry from East Carter winning top honors and submissions from Mountain View and Union joining Glasgow as division winners.
