The Santa Fe R-X Schools may feel a bit warmer this summer, with the hopes of saving the district some cool cash.
During his report at Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting, Supt. Dr Derek Lark announced that the district was joining an energy savings program through Evergy in an effort to reduce costs. Lark says the program includes some incentives from the utility.
Lark says Evergy will coordinate with Santa Fe and other public entities to lighten the load on the electric grid during high-demand events.
Also at Tuesday night’s meeting, the Santa Fe School Board discussed health insurance rates and received program reviews, accepting those for counseling and food service. The board also approved a career ladder plan to allow the district’s teachers to earn extra income for working various activities and events during the school year.
The Santa Fe R-X School Board next meets May 20th.
