The Slater Wildcats have a new head football coach for the fall.
At a special board meeting earlier this month, Slater Schools formally hired Cedric Davis as the new coach, replacing Mitchell Jenkins. Supt. Dr Terry Lorenz says Davis has already hit the ground running.
Davis was an assistant coach for the Wildcats squad that finished 7-5 last fall, including an appearance in the district championship against Concordia. Lorenz says Davis is working with his players to get the team ready for another campaign through the Central Rivers.
Another assistant coach at Slater received a promotion to head coach earlier this month. Aric Falls will take over the girls basketball program. He was an assistant coach for Teffany Sample, who guided the Wildcats to a 3-20 record last season.
