The City of Glasgow will swear in its new mayor Monday, April 21 at a special meeting of the Board of Aldermen.

Donald Clear received just one write-in vote in the mayor’s race, according to preliminary results from the April 8 Municipal Election released by the Howard County Clerk’s office. However, city administrator Robert Snider tells KMMO News that after all the write-in recipients ahead of him declined the office or were unable to assume it, Clear accepted the position. Clear had picked up 18 write-in votes to become North Ward aldermen; this seat will remain vacant in order for Clear to become mayor.

Also taking her oath of office Monday evening is Renna Bean, who ran uncontested for Central Ward alderwoman. No candidates filed to run for south ward aldermen, with at least eight people receiving a write-in vote. Snider says aldermen will discuss how to fill the two vacancies during tonight’s meeting.
