Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor got past the Blues again, claiming the Winnipeg Jets’ two goals in their 2-1 victory over the St Louis Blues on Monday, April 21 at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, sending the series to St Louis with a two-zero advantage.
Schiefele got credit for Winnipeg’s opening goal with three-and-a-half minutes left in the first, when his backhander was poked away by Jordan Binnington. However, a surging Jimmy Snuggerud slid into the puck as he approached the goal, sending it past Binnington. Snuggerud would redeem himself on the power play just before the end of the period with a crisp snap shot into the back of the net. Kyle Connor would get his second game-winner in as many contests early in the third, when he slotted his goal from close range past Binnington and two defenders. Each team had 22 shots in the game, with Winnipeg claiming the slight advantage in face-offs.
The best-of-seven series makes its way stateside back to Enterprise Center, with the Blues on the wrong end of a 2-0 deficit. Game three of the series is Thursday at 8:30 p.m.
