Keith Higgins took the oath of office Monday, April 21 as the new mayor of Carrollton.

The oath was administered toward the beginning of the meeting, which also saw Sherry McCoy and Jim Bowen sworn in for another term on the town council. Higgins tells KMMO News that aldermen approved an ordinance affirming the town’s compliance with federal Housing and Urban Development codes as a condition for applying for community development block grant funds. The town council also renewed a certificate of deposit with Carroll County Trust.

The council also spent time discussing with Devin Frazier of the Carroll County Fair Board about who has the responsibility to insure the 4-H and FFA building at Walnut Hills Park during the fair. Higgins says city officials will look into the item and propose a solution before the fair takes place July 8-12.

Higgins adds that because of his election to mayor, he will submit an appointment for the Ward One seat he recently vacated, which the council will consider at their next meeting May 5.
