The annual State Fair Community College “Student Art Show”, a tradition dating back to the late 1960s, is being held this year from April 14 to May 11 in the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art on the Sedalia campus. The show is open to all students who have taken studio art classes at SFCC. Participating student-artists collaborated with art faculty to select work that best represented them.
The show features 77 artworks by 50 artists in a wide range of media, from paintings, drawings, photography, 3D printing, and ceramics. Awards, including President’s Awards, Excellence in Design, and Excellence in Studio, along with cash prizes, were presented at the student show opening on April 10.
The President’s purchase awards were chosen by the President’s office: Dr. Bates and Lisa Oesterle. The Excellence in Design award was chosen by a panel of art faculty, including Don Luper, Megan McClellan, and Emilee Patterson. The Excellence in Design award was chosen by Garry Holstein of the Daum Museum. In addition, the Sedalia Visual Arts Association (SVAA) chose two recipients for cash awards for excellence.
