The Slater School District Board of Education approved 15-year NBA veteran Joe Kleine as the 2025 Graduation Speaker.

The board approved the motion during its meeting on Monday, April 21. Kleine is a Slater graduate who went on to spend 15 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), and was a member of the Chicago Bulls when they won the NBA Title in 1998. Superintendent Terry Lorenz said the senior class voted unanimously to have Kleine speak at Slater High’s graduation.

Slater High School’s graduation is scheduled for Friday, May 9.

In other news, the board swore in its new and returning board members. Mike Schure and Lexsi Dowell returned to the board for another term, while Brandon Terrill was sworn in for his first term.
