
The Lafayette County Scholar Bowl team finished tied for 33rd in the nation at the Small School National Championship Tournament over the weekend in Rosemont, Ill.
The Huskers took a 6-4 record into the double-elimination playoffs, where they fell to Mayfield, N.Y. 255-185. Lafayette County collected nine tossups in the first contest but missed on three, while averaging 12.22 out of a possible 30 points on each bonus set. The Huskers were then eliminated from the playoffs with a 205-80 score against Woodbine, Iowa, having been limited to five tossups in that contest.
Junior Marshall Ridinger led the Huskers in their 12 games this weekend, averaging just under 33.98 points per 20 tossups heard, while Alex Dyer averaged 29.34 points, and Nora Knipmeyer averaged 20.99.
Lafayette County was one of ten Missouri teams that advanced to Sunday’s playoffs, with Hallsville and Park Hills Central finishing tied for 13th out of 88 teams in the public division, while New Heights Christian of Joplin picked up seventh in the nation in the open division.
