The St. Louis Cardinals couldn’t keep up with the Cincinnati offense in a 9-1 loss on Thursday.
Cardinals starter Matthew Liberatore only lasted three innings due to a rain delay, giving up two runs on two hits and a walk. Those runs came after a two run shot off the bat of Jose Trevino in the second inning.
The Cardinals would get a run back in the third, after a fielding error by Elly De La Cruz allowed Brendan Donovan to score.
The Red feasted on the St. Louis bullpen, scoring two runs on Matt Svanson, three on Riley O’Brien, and two more on John King.
The Cardinals split the series in Cincinnati, and fall to 14-18 on the season. The Cardinals will be back at home on Friday to take on the New York Mets. First pitch from Busch Stadium begins at 7:15 p.m.
