A Glasgow man avoided injury but was unable to avoid becoming involved in a 10-vehicle crash in the St Louis area Wednesday, April 30.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the 23-year-old man was driving his Peterbilt westbound on Interstate 70 at around 3:45 p.m., when near the intersection with Interstate 270 in Bridgeton, traffic began slowing as a result of an earlier collision. Troopers say the truck was unable to slow down in time and hit the rear of a crossover SUV, pushing the SUV into three other vehicles. The SUV was listed as totaled, and its 22-year-old driver was taken to a St Louis area hospital with serious injuries. A 17-year-old passenger in the SUV had minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital.

Four other drivers involved in the crash had reported minor injuries and were also treated at nearby hospitals. The driver from Glasgow had no reported injuries.
