The City of Marceline reorganized its council during a special meeting Wednesday evening.

The council welcomed Jacob Clay, who won election last month. He and Clarence Gibson took their oaths of office, with Gibson receiving his first full three-year term following his appointment in December. The new council then selected their leadership for the next year, with Shelly Milford named the new mayor, and previous mayor Sallie Buck becoming mayor pro tem. In additional business, the council considered items to install at Walt Disney Park, according to city manager Jesse Wallis.

Wallis adds that Crossroads Christian Church of Macon is donating the picnic table. Also Wednesday night, the council discussed the refurbishment of the pool slide and tower.

The Marceline City Council also met April 9 to accept a bid for a new metal roof for the street department’s facility. During that meeting the council received an update on the city’s health, vision and dental insurance policies, which Wallis says will remain with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield for the next year.

The council next meets May 14.
