Two Pettis County Sheriff’s Deputies injured by gunfire Friday morning near the Longwood community were welcomed home Sunday, May 4 with a procession through Sedalia.

The two deputies are expected to recover from their injuries, days after they were injured by gunfire as they attempted to serve a search warrant on a residence along Route BB. Pettis County Sheriff Brad Anders issued a personal statement Saturday on social media, reflecting on the shooting incident. Anders credited the swift response from agencies including Sedalia Police to provide countywide coverage assistance, as well as the Missouri State Highway Patrol for taking on the investigation. He also thanked the Callaway County Sheriff’s Department, Columbia Police Department, and University of Missouri Police for sending peer support, and to several Sedalia businesses for offering donations of meals and other items of support.
