A Marshall man sustained serious injuries after his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle in northern Saline County on Friday, May 2.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the crash around 6:45 a.m. Friday on Route 41 three-quarters of a mile south of the intersection with Routes NN and 122. According to troopers, a pickup heading north on 41 struck the rear of the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to cross the highway and overturn. The truck also crossed the highway and struck an embankment. The 50-year-old rider of the motorcycle was taken to a Columbia hospital for treatment of serious injuries, while the 18-year-old driver of the pickup had no reported injuries. Troopers say neither man was wearing the proper safety equipment at the time of the crash.
