Born May 6, 1983, in Boonville, MO, he was the son of Paul Vaillancourt of Marshall and Susie Bishop of Marshall. Colin lived in the Saline County area his entire life and was a 2001 graduate of Malta Bend High School. He continued his education by earning his bachelor’s degree in education from Missouri Valley College and his master’s degree from Western Governors University. On July 26, 2008, he married Sarah Arndt who survives of the home. Colin’s career was spent as an educator first in the Slater School District and most recently at Marshall High School where he taught science. He knew that teaching went far beyond the classroom and that led him to go above and beyond to help others. He established the E-Sports club at Marshall High School, announced the high school football games, as well as doing anything that was needed. In addition to his love of teaching, Colin had an eclectic variety of things he enjoyed. Music, back country camping and canoeing, gaming, hunting, fishing, cooking bbq, and so many other activities were things that brought him happiness. Above all, he loved the time that he was able to spend with family.
Colin is survived by his wife, Sarah; father, Paul Vaillancourt; mother, Susie Bishop (Keith); one sister, Doran Vaillancourt (Robert Paul) of Coventry, RI; two stepsisters, Karissa Bishop and Corina Bishop, both of Marshall; mother-in-law, Dorothy Arndt of Marshall; sister-in-law, Amy Reed (Jeff) of Independence; as well as aunts, uncles, extended family, and a host of colleagues, students and friends.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Darla Arni; and his father-in-law, David Arndt; paternal grandparents, Al and Anita Vaillancourt; and his maternal grandparents, Tom and Barbara Usnick.
