
The top seeds cruised through the first round at the Class One, District Four boys tennis district tournament Monday in Odessa.
Top-seeded Lafayette County claimed a sweep of Knob Noster to advance to Tuesday’s semifinals. They’ll face Marshall, who took care of Boonville by a 5-1 set score. Second-seeded Moberly also secured a sweep, ending Clinton’s season, while Odessa needed a 5-2 scoreline to dispatch Carrollton.
Elsewhere in Class One, the Chillicothe Hornets were swept in their District Seven matchup against Savannah. The third-seeded Savages now face Kirksville, who swept Trenton. In District Three, Mexico posted a sweep of STEAM Academy of St Louis to set up a clash with top-seeds Lutheran St Charles, while Fulton earned a 5-1 victory over St Charles to arrange a semifinal battle with St Charles West. Richmond starts play in District Seven on Tuesday afternoon as the seven seed, facing St Michael the Archangel.
In Class Two, District Seven’s top seed Warrensburg will face Thomas Jefferson Independent of Joplin on Tuesday afternoon, after the Cavaliers defeated Belton. Hannibal’s season ended in District Five with an opening round loss to Missouri Military Academy. In Class Three, Smith-Cotton needed all nine contests to settle their District Four tilt with Waynesville, ultimately eliminating the hosts 5-4. Smith-Cotton’s reward is a semifinal against top-seeded Rock Bridge on Tuesday afternoon.
