Street crews in Marshall are one step closer to tackling their project list for 2025, after approval of three bids by the Marshall City Council on Tuesday, May 6.

The council accepted bids from Higgins Asphalt of Tipton for cold milling at $2.15 per square yard, and two-inch asphalt overlay at $129.30 per ton. The slurry and seal bid was awarded to Pavement Management of Lee’s Summit for a second year, at $4.27 per square yard. The contracts cover the city’s street improvement project list for the next year.

Also Tuesday night, the Marshall City Council approved selling the site of the future gas power generator plant to the Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission for $40,000. The city will have the right of first refusal to buy the site should the commission decide to vacate the property. The council tabled an ordinance updating the procedures for master plumber certification, wanting more information on what the city is allowed by state law to require of plumbers as a condition for licensing.
