The Odessa Board of Alderman considered an addition to its Zoning Code during its meeting on Monday, April 28.
Aldermen considered approving Chapter 50 of the Code of Ordinances, relating to Planned Unit Developments (PUD). City Administrator Shawna Davis said the Planning and Zoning Commission spent some time working on this chapter by hosting workshops. Davis highlights the benefits PUD zoning.
Davis notes this designation would allow for more flexible and creative land development in the city. The Planning and Zoning Commission approved the addition to the code during its meeting on April 17. Aldermen decided to table this ordinance to allow for further discussion at the Board of Alderman’s next meeting on Monday, May 12.
In other news, the board accepted the results of the April 8 Municipal Election. The board welcomed newly-elected Bruce Whitsitt in Ward 3, while incumbents Karla Polson and Mike Plachte secured re-election in Wards 1 and 2. Aldermen then voted for Donna Elhert to continue serving as board president.
