The top two seeds in the Class One, District Four boys tennis tournament rolled past their semifinal competition Tuesday, May 6 to set up their title bouts for Wednesday afternoon.

The top-seeded Lafayette County Huskers swept Marshall 5-0, ending the Owls’ season at 6-8. The Huskers now face Moberly, after the second-seeded Spartans swept district hosts Odessa. Elsewhere in Class One, Marshall’s NCMC compatriots Kirksville claimed a 5-3 win over Savannah in the District Eight tournament to set up a championship clash Wednesday afternoon against top seeds Maryville. At District Three, both Fulton and hosts Mexico fell in the semifinals, with Mexico losing to Lutheran St Charles 5-2 and St Charles West defeating Fulton 5-3. Also in Class One, Richmond experienced a 5-0 sweep at the hands of second-seeded St Michael the Archangel at the District Seven tournament in Independence.

In Class Two, Warrensburg sent Thomas Jefferson Independent back to Joplin without hardware, as the top-seeded Tigers swept the Cavaliers to advance to their district final. The Tigers will face Willard on Thursday afternoon. No result has been posted as of 7 a.m. Wednesday from yesterday’s semifinal between Smith-Cotton and Rock Bridge in the Class Three, District Four tournament.
