State and county offices across Missouri will close Thursday, May 8 in recognition of the anniversary of the birth of President Harry S Truman.
Truman was born May 8, 1884 in Lamar, and served as America’s 33rd president from 1945 to 1953, briefly serving as vice president after representing Missouri for ten years in the U.S. Senate. Because Truman’s birthday is a state holiday, all state offices and most county courthouses will close Thursday to celebrate the occasion. Additionally, license offices, including driver examination stations, will close Thursday and reopen Friday, May 9.
