Four boys’ golf district tournaments are in the books as spring high school sports playoff fever picks up across Missouri.

At the Heritage Hills Golf Course in Moberly on Wednesday, May 7, the Harrisburg Bulldogs claimed the Class One, District Two title with a four-stroke advantage over Canton. The Bulldogs compiled a team score of 340, led by Aiden Grindstaff’s 80, which had him tied for third individually. Harrisburg was supported by an 82 from Myals Thornhill and 87 from Bryce Ott. Marceline’s Lance O’Dell was the co-medalist with the top individual score of 79. Golfers from Cairo, Glasgow, Salisbury, and Westran qualified for the Class One State Tournament set for May 19 and 20 at the Meadow Lakes Country Club in New Bloomfield.

Boonville finished as runners-up at the Class Three, District Four tournament at the Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond, qualifying as a team for the state tournament at the Twin Hill Golf Course in Joplin. The Pirates finished with a 328, 22 strokes behind district winners Maryville. Aden Rapp led the way for Boonville with a 79, good for seventh individually, while Brooks Poulsen added an 81 and Daniel Espey shot an 82. Jack Ervin of Pleasant Hill was the top golfer with a 72. Two golfers from Odessa qualified individually, along with a golfer from Richmond. At the Class Three, District Three tournament in Nevada, Versailles posted a 447 to finish 13th. Zackery Cooper shot an 84 to finish in a tie for 16th individually, which should qualify him to compete for an individual state title.

Marshall and Warrensburg competed Wednesday in the Class Four, District Four tournament at Paradise Pointe in Smithville. Warrensburg posted a 363, good for eighth in the district, with Kobe Westphal claiming the final individual qualifier spot with an 85. Marshall finished ninth with a 378. Kane Viquesney led the Owls with an 88.

Six more districts involving area teams are scheduled over the next week. Eight area schools travel to Lawson on Thursday afternoon to take on the Hidden Valley Golf Course for the Class Two, District Four tournament. Seven area schools will take to the links Friday for the Class One, District Four tournament at the Green Hills Golf Course in Chillicothe. Five area teams will compete in the Class One, District Three tournament Monday at the Schifferdecker Golf Course in Joplin. Also on Monday, California, Hallsville and Moberly will compete at the Class Three, District Two tournament at Innsbrook, while the Class Two, District Two tournament at Norwoods Golf Club in Hannibal will include Macon and Centralia. Smith-Cotton travels to the Payne Stewart Golf Course in Springfield on Monday for the Class Five, District Three tournament.
