The building that anchors Downtown Sedalia is receiving a birthday bash Saturday, as Pettis County marks 100 years that their current courthouse building has stood in the square.
Eastern District Commissioner Israel Baeza says several activities are planned for Saturday’s celebration, beginning at 2 p.m.
Baeza says a fire destroyed the previous courthouse in 1920. The current courthouse, a Classical Revival style building that took two years to construct, drew inspiration from one of Missouri’s neighbors.
Baeza adds that more details about Saturday’s centennial celebration of the Pettis County Courthouse are available on the county’s Facebook page.
