The Sedalia City Council granted a pair of waivers to a non-profit helping residents fix issues with their homes in the city.

The waivers were approved at Monday night’s meeting, after a presentation from Robin Balke of Sedalia Community Helping Hands. Mayor Andrew Dawson says the group has helped over 50 homeowners since their inception three years ago.

Dawson explains the waivers approved by the council.

Both waivers are limited to the area covered by Sedalia’s Midtown Redevelopment Area, generally to the north of 16th Street and east of Park. The council also confirmed appointments to the corporation that handles tax incentives associated with the area, appointing Tina Boggess to succeed former councilman Chris Marshall on the board for the next two years. The council also reappointed mayor pro tem Rhiannon Foster for another year, along with Sedalia Schools Supt. Todd Fraley and resident Lucas Richardson for the next two years.
