Two area men made trips to area hospitals early Friday, May 9 after becoming involved in a pair of accidents, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
First, a Leeton man on a Yamaha struck a deer around 11:25 p.m. Thursday on a southern Johnson County highway. The patrol says the 25-year-old rider was driving his bike west on Route WW, about two miles east of Route 23, when the collision occurred, causing the bike to overturn. He was treated for moderate injuries at a Warrensburg hospital.
Just after midnight Friday, a Higbee man suffered serious injuries after a motorcycle crash in Randolph County. According to the Patrol, the 39-year-old rider of a Harley Davidson motorcycle was heading south on Route A about three miles south of Moberly. At around 12:20 a.m. the bike went off the roadway, ejecting the man. He was taken to a Columbia hospital for treatment. Troopers say he was not wearing the proper safety gear at the time of the crash.
