The effects of April’s heavy showers are wearing off for most counties north of the Missouri River, as they’re now among 18 percent of Missouri in abnormal dryness.

That’s according to the U.S. Drought Monitor’s most recent weekly update from Thursday morning. Abnormal drought now extends into northwestern Carroll County, as well as western and central Livingston, northern Ray, and all of Caldwell counties. The patch of abnormal dryness impacting Chariton, Linn, Macon and Randolph counties is unchanged from last week. No areas south of the Missouri River are presently impacted by dryness, and no part of Missouri is considered to be in drought.
