The City of Warrensburg is set to receive $22 million in financial assistance from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources for upgrades to the city’s wastewater treatment system.

DNR announced Tuesday, May 13 that the city will receive a low-interest loan through the department’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund. The 20-year loan is expected to save the city’s ratepayers about $7.7 million in interest. The funds will cover upgrades to two of Warrensburg’s treatment facilities, expanding the average daily flow of the city’s facilities to two million gallons per day. The project will also enhance the system to handle peak flow events up to 12 million gallons per day, as well as extend the system’s life and efficiency.

The City of Warrensburg expects to complete the improvements by October 2026.
