Two Moberly tennis players made it all the way to the MSHSAA Class 1 Doubles Championship Match, ultimately falling to a duo from Clayton on Friday, May 16.

Ryan O’Loughlin and Harry O’Loughlin secured straight-set wins yesterday (Thursday) to advance to the Class One semifinals. The two seniors defeated Bolivar’s Colton Ingold and Maccafey Rich 6-0, 6-3, then knocked Dexter’s Lawson Blocker and Cooper Worley to the consolation bracket with a 6-2, 7-5 victory. The O’Loughlins then faced Kyler Skidmore and William Sheil of Maryville for a spot in the Class One doubles championship, defeating them 7-6(2) and 6-2.

The duo thenfell in the Championship match to Ruben Haroutounian and Joe Major, of Clayton, 6-4 and 6-2.

Another Moberly Spartan duo also competed Friday, with the team of Lincoln Hall and Christian Lucas falling to a duo from Bolivar in the Class 1 Fifth-Place match.
