Storm clouds from bomb cyclone over sea stacks in the ocean at the Oregon Coast.

Two more rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected through the area the afternoon of Monday, May 19, 2025 and into the evening, with heavy rain expected from both bands.

National Weather Service lead forecaster Allan Curtis says after Monday morning’s brief showers and strong winds, the next two rounds could have a greater chance of severity.

Curtis says the second round should develop late Monday evening.

Curtis says while several variables are still in play, he anticipates the worst storms to develop over Southeast Kansas and Southwest Missouri.  He also expects the storms to provide widespread rainfall of one to three inches across much of Northern Missouri, where several counties have fallen into moderate drought or abnormal dryness in the past week.
