The Moberly City Council considered an ordinance to increase water and sewer rates during its meeting Monday night.

The City of Moberly completed a comprehensive utility rate study to review the financial condition of the City’s water and sewer systems in fall of 2024. Community Relations Manager Scott McGarvey says the increase was caused by inflation and rising operating costs. He says the council approved an increase of five percent.

The increase takes effect July 1, 2026.

In other news, the council approved an agreement with Williams Keepers for financial auditing services in 2025. The council will review the findings of the audit in January 2026.
