Over three-quarters of funds raised for the teen center have come from local donors. The new facility will focus on the academic achievement, life and workforce readiness, and mental health of junior high and high school students.
Also Monday night, council members agreed to the appointments of Virginia Kehoe and Kathryn Stanley-Dietzman to two openings on the Sedalia Public Library Board. Their three-year terms will begin July 1. The council opened a public hearing on the annexation of a proposed 10-acre development at the site of the former Sedalia Livestock Auction barn, which will be called Autumn Creek. No comments were made during the hearing. Wirt says the proposal will come before the council for a vote at their next regularly scheduled meeting.
Because of Monday night’s severe weather, the council adjourned before they could complete their closed session docket. The council will reconvene Wednesday at noon in special session. They will also vote on accepting the minutes from their May 5 meeting, after skipping a voice vote on the matter during Monday’s meeting.
