The Oak Grove Panthers scholar bowl program has “Georgia on Their Mind”, as do 14 other teams from Missouri set to compete this weekend at the High School National Championship Tournament in Atlanta.

Fresh off their third-place finish at the Class Four MSHSAA State Tournament in Columbia, the Panthers will be among 336 teams from 37 states participating in nationals. Senior Jean Quiviron says he and his teammates are looking forward to spending the weekend together in competition and celebrating a successful year.

Oak Grove qualified for nationals by finishing third in the Missouri River Valley Conference season standings. They also took part in the Roadrunner Scholastic Tournament hosted at State Fair Community College, where they finished seventh out of 24 teams. This weekend’s nationals will be Quiviron’s last tournament before wrapping up his year in Oak Grove as an exchange student.

Oak Grove competed at nationals in 2023 and went 3-7. The Panthers will have seven games Saturday afternoon, then three games Sunday morning. They’ll need at least six wins to qualify for the double-elimination playoffs Sunday afternoon.
