
Two Smithton residents were injured when their sports bike collided with an oncoming vehicle on a Pettis County highway.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says that around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, a 32-year-old man was steering a sports bike on Route O, seeking to go east on Boonville Road where the highway curves south. The bike attempted to entered the intersection, only to strike an oncoming minivan driven by a 50-year-old woman from Smithton. The bike’s driver and an eight-year-old boy also on the bike were injured, with the driver’s injuries considered moderate. The two were taken to a Columbia hospital for treatment. No injuries were reported for the minivan’s driver.
