The Oak Grove Panthers Scholar Bowl have their work cut out for them, needing three wins Sunday, May 25 to advance to the playoffs at the 2025 High School National Championship Tournament in Atlanta.

The Panthers started Saturday afternoon’s preliminary matches with losses to Yukon, Okla. and Boyle County, Ky., before claiming their first win by 15 points over Spring Valley of Columbia, S.C. After defeating Illinois’ Normal University High School, the Panthers dropped their next match to the B team from University School of Nashville. Spring Valley claimed revenge in a rematch, overwhelming the Panthers in their sixth contest, before Oak Grove staved off elimination with a 180-150 victory over Pensacola, Fla.

Through seven games, junior Chase Rinehart is leading the panthers, picking up an average of 33 points per 20 tossups hears, while senior Jean Quiviron is adding an average of 22.6 points per contest.

Oak Grove will need to win all three games on the schedule for Sunday morning, starting out with a clash against Mandeville, La.

As a whole, nine of Missouri’s 15 teams are still eligible to advance Sunday afternoon’s playoffs. Mexico is leading the state’s contingent with a record of 5-2, while Jefferson City, Lee’s Summit West, and Webster Groves are all 4-3.
