The Kansas City Royals jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but couldn’t sustain it, falling to the Minnesota Twins 5-4 on Saturday, May 24.

The Royals took the lead in the third with a two-run single from Maikel Garcia. They would add to their lead in the fifth with an RBI double from Vinnie Pasquantino and an RBI single from Salvador Perez.

Minnesota finally got to Micheal Wacha in the fifth, tagging him with three runs in the inning. Kody Clemens then tied the game in the sixth with a solo homer.

Wacha finished the game going five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk.

After several scoreless frames to get to the ninth, the Royals bullpen finally broke as Brooks Lee hit a walk-off single, allowing the Twins to take a 5-4 victory.

The Royals fall to 28-25, fourth in the AL Central and five games back of Detroit. The Royals will look to salvage a game in the series today. Pregame begins at 12:30, with first pitch at 1:10 p.m. on KMMO AM 1300.
